Da Sorce gaming room supports open gaming and the gaming community at large. We do, however, have a few basic rules regarding the gaming space that need to be observed.
Anyone may use the game room for most any gaming activity, though actual scheduled events will always trump any other use of the gaming space.
We are open 7 days a week and the game room may be used during any open hours. If there is a store organized gaming activity/workshop or project, priority use of the gaming space goes to the organized event.
Anyone who is a Gamer Rewards card holder may play any of the games in the gaming library. Simply present your rewards card to the store associate and they will assist you in getting the game down you would like to play. Games should be kept in good condition and put back into their boxes in an orderly fashion when done. Bring the game to the counter when you are finished.
Yes, of course you may bring your own games and gaming materials to play in the game area.
A Few Things Not Allowed:
No weapons of any kind are allowed in the gaming area.
Per Illinois law, all places inside the store are non-smoking. We ask that anyone who choose to smoke please do not do it in front of the store.
Absolutely no stealing of items belonging to persons not you. Police will be called in cases where this is found to have happened.
No foul language. Keep it family friendly.
No outside food or drink is allowed in the game room for liability issues.
Competitive or casual, games are meant to be fun for all. Good sportsmanship is a must, win or lose.
Absolutely no destruction of tables, chairs or other store property or property belonging to others. This includes writing or carving on tables or chairs.
Any personal contact that might inspire someone to tell you to "get a room" is not in keeping with the family fun atmosphere the game room requires. Please do such elsewhere.
Please keep the bathroom tidy. No messes.
No store owned merchandise is allowed in the game area. Simple rule, if you own it, you can bring it into the game area. If you don't, you can't.
Anyone found in violation of the game area rules may be banned from using it in the future or can be banned from the store entirely. These incidents with be handled by a case by case basis. Please observe the rules so this doesn't become necessary.
We strive to keep a great gaming atmosphere while still being a family friendly retail establishment. To this end we have laid down some house rules and will enforce them when necessary.
TRASH TALKING- in regards to someone’s age, shape, race, gender, religion, orientation or occupation is not acceptable. Trash talking their army choices however is not only acceptable; but expected. Keep It In The Game!
We have recycling and a trash can- please clean up after yourself, eat on the folding tables only and use cup holders when at the terrain tables. We also have a bathroom- it is available to anyone and everyone so please respect it and aim to keep it clean.
ALCOHOL- There Is No Drinking In The Shop. Period.
TABLES- are free to use and open play unless there is a scheduled event. If you wish to schedule an event it should include at least 6 people to warrant a reservation. If you can’t find space to play please speak up- we also have folding tables available and can usually fit everyone in.
For Friendly Games- You can play whatever rules and game suits your fancy as long as both players agree- just be prepared for confused comments from passer-bys if you’re playing ..oh let’s say… 3rd edition 40k.
SCHEDULING GAMES- A great place to meet new gamers and opposition is easiest on the forums. Please Note: the shop will not give out your number- so if you want someone to reach you be sure they know how to contact you!
BRING YOUR OWN- cards, books and dice. We do have store copies of most core rule books that you can use but the books that are on the wall are for sale, not for playing. Looking up one rule and putting it back is fine but these should not be taken to the table and if the book is damaged you will be buying it. If playing in a tournament you are expected to own your army book AND bring it with you.
LABEL YOUR STUFF- Da Sorce is not responsible for lost or stolen property. Your best defense is to keep your stuff together and handy (especially electronics) while you play and label books as soon as you purchase them. We will keep things in lost and found for two months before loaning them out as store property.
PLEASE RESPECT OUR BUSINESS- We have a policy about selling and trading used cards and games while in our shop but ask that you RESPECT this policy. In short- if this new freedom is abused and used to undercut and hurt business there may not be a Da Sorce for you to play at. Customers at our retail store may only sell cards or games to the store. SELLING ANY GAME OR CARDS TO OTHER CUSTOMERS IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN. However, we encourage trading, however anyone under the age of fourteen must get an employee of Da Sorce to approve the trade to ensure that all trades are fair. We also help people promote services they provide- such as painting or building for hire. I am certain that somewhere in all this we can get you the models you need, in the budget you have and still keep Da Sorce strong. - Thank you.
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REQUIRE GAMERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 TO BE ACCOMPANIED BY A RESPONSIBLE ADULT.
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ASK ANY PREVIOUSLY RESPONSIBLE ADULT WHO ISNT ACTING LIKE ONE TO TAKE IT HOME AND COME BACK ANOTHER DAY.
FIGHT LIKE HELL… PLAY LIKE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.
